A handoff where nothing gets lost.
Work changes hands all day: a deck to an investor, a proposal to a buyer, a plan to the person covering for you. More and more, the first reader on the other side is an AI agent. The file makes it across. Your reasoning, what can change and what you need back usually don’t. That handoff is what we mean by relay.
relay.
Doc for Jordan
Thinking for Jordan’s agent
Way back to Ana
The handoff changed
A doc used to go from one person to another, and you could explain it in the meeting. Now people hand what they receive to their agent first, to summarize it and ask what to think. That agent gets the file and guesses the rest: why you made the call, what is still open, what it should never say for you. Your thinking stays behind in your own chat.
Sent as a file
- The deck
- Why you made the calls you made
- What can move, and what can’t
- What needs your decision
Their agent guesses the rest.
Relayed
- The deck
- Why you made the calls you made
- What can move, and what can’t
- What needs your decision
Their agent answers in your words, and what needs you comes back.
A relay carries your intent, not just your words
In a relay race, the handoff decides the race. A relay in Relay is one link, for one purpose, that carries three things across:
- The doc, for the personYour deck, proposal or plan, to read in the browser.
- The thinking, for their agentWhy you made the calls you made, what can move, and your rules: what it may say, what to ask you first, what never to say.
- A way back to youQuestions it can’t answer, feedback and suggested changes come back to you, not into a guess.
One handoff, start to finish
- Ana says it to her agent“relay my seed deck to Jordan for Thursday’s partner meeting.” Her agent drafts the relay from what it already knows. Ana checks it, and nothing is shared until she approves.
- Jordan reads the deckIn the browser, or in Claude, ChatGPT or any other agent Jordan already uses.
- Jordan’s agent explains Ana’s thinkingWhy now, what the round funds, what the risks are, in Ana’s words, not its own guess.
- The valuation question comes backValuation is on Ana’s ask-first list, so Jordan’s agent says it’s Ana’s call and sends the question to her.
- A suggested edit becomes version 2Jordan suggests a change to one section. Ana sees exactly what changed, accepts it, and it’s live at the same link.
- Ana stays in controlShe sees who read it and what was asked, and can update it or take it back at any time.
It works the other way too. “ask Jordan to relay me the diligence questions”: Jordan’s agent drafts it, Jordan approves it, and it comes back to Ana.
Why a handoff needs this
- You decide what travelsSecrets come out automatically, hidden instructions are caught, and nothing goes out until you approve it.
- Their agent knows its limitsIt answers from what you approved and brings everything else back to you.
- It stays yoursOne link that stays current, with a record of every read and question, and revoke at any time.
With the agent you already use
Relay works inside Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and any agent that takes MCP connectors. Add https://relayto.ai/mcp once, then say it the way you’d say it to a colleague. The person you relay to can use whichever agent they like, or none.
Questions
- What does it mean to relay something?
- To share a doc with someone and the supporting context with their agent, guided by one purpose, so their agent can explain your reasoning and send back the questions that need your decision.
- How is a relay different from sending a document?
- A document carries the words. A relay also carries the thinking behind them for the reader’s agent, with your rules, and brings back the questions that need you.
- Can I ask someone to relay something to me?
- Yes: “ask Jordan to relay me the pilot requirements for scoping.” Jordan’s agent drafts it from what it already knows, Jordan approves it, and it comes back to you.
- Can I relay to Claude or ChatGPT?
- Yes. Relay works with Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and other agents that take MCP connectors. The other person can also read and ask on the page, with no agent at all.
